What It’s Like Volunteering at Oasis

A typical day begins around 9:00 AM, when the children and staff gather on the field to set up. We usually start with a fun warm-up before dividing into teams. The younger children then split off to play classic games (for example, Wolfy Wolfy). You can choose whether you’d like to join the football group or accompany the younger children in their games.

Around 10:30–11:00 AM, we leave the field and head to the Life Skills Oasis Centre. Depending on the time of year, the children may have a lesson, play with toys, or watch a film. During this time, you’ll help with cooking or engaging the children in activities. As our kitchen is still developing, some meals may be cooked over an open fire — but don’t worry, someone will always be there to show you what to do.

Lunch is served at 1:00 PM, and the children head home around 1:30 PM. Afterward, we sweep and tidy the centre to prepare for the next day.

Become A Volunteer

Join us in making a lasting difference

Over the years, our volunteers have become the heart of our centre. From spending time with the children, mentoring them, and bringing joy to their daily routines, to helping prepare meals, donating food, and providing much-needed equipment—every act of kindness has shaped who we are today.

Many of our volunteers have rolled up their sleeves to help us build and maintain the centre itself. Their hard work has created safe spaces, classrooms, play areas, and warm environments where our young people can learn, grow, and find support.

We are proud of the incredible community that has formed around our mission. If you feel inspired to be part of our story, we would love to welcome you. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful impact—one person, one moment, and one helping hand at a time.
