Raphael Pi Muri, known as Passie, is a foundational volunteer, dedicated mentor, and essential operational member of Life Skills Oasis, where he has committed approximately 17 years of service since joining the organization around 2014 or 2015. Passie's involvement began after meeting founder Newton, who was his teacher at a previous organization. Facing challenging circumstances in his youth, including peer pressure and occasionally a lack of food at home, Passie had dropped out of high school at Form Two around age 12. Newton encouraged him to volunteer at Oasis to give back to the community and avoid sitting idle. Passie joined because he wanted to give back to the community, change it, and interact with the children. Raphael Pi Muri, known as Passie, is a committed volunteer and a profound embodiment of the transformative power of Life Skills Oasis, where he has dedicated approximately of service since joining the organization around .

Passie’s core operational responsibilities are crucial to the mission of Life Skills Oasis, focusing on child welfare, educational integration, and community engagement. His main responsibility at Oasis is looking after the children. He is integral to their educational journey, working to prepare the children to go back to school through a non-formal education. Passie actively searches for vacancies at the school so that the children can attend and is responsible for the recruitment of children who have not yet gone to school, ensuring all children are successfully enrolled.

His dedication to the children extends far beyond enrollment. Passie continues to meet with school staff and teachers after taking the children to school, a practice known as school visiting, to ensure the child is settling in alright. He maintains family connections and support by conducting home visits to chat to the parents. Additionally, Passie serves as the main football coach for the football teams, utilizing sport as a tool for engagement and mentorship.

Passie volunteers most of the week, working with the organization from Monday to Saturday. He finds immense personal satisfaction in his work with the children, noting that their presence helps relieve stress and depression, and that he enjoys his time with them. Passie supports himself by engaging in casual work and occasionally doing catering with a group for specific occasions.
